Burn down the carpets and call me a Clydesdale, we have come to the end of another Wright Challenge! We had 128 contestants this time around, and shame on you if your first thought was, "Wow! A power of two!" This was the first semester we used the web-based entry form, and it made things a lot easier. At least on my end. If you have ANY suggestions on how to make entering your solutions easier on your end, please let me know.

Guess what, gangity gang? We have a three way tie for first place! In spite of our best efforts, three players or teams were able to get perfect scores. Doctor E is going to do something about that next semester, I'll tell you what, boy howdy. So if everyone can stand in the place where they live and bang their hands together, the ensuing applause may be directed to Brent P. of Western Dubuque High School, Kerrick A. S. of Central Academy, and a team with a very silly name, also of Central Academy. The team name is Amazing League of Ecstatic Xanthocroid Antelopes, Norweigan Dimwitted Neanderthals, And Taiwanese Happy Athletic Narwhals. Congratulations you two, and remember that Doctor E can spot an acrostic at one-hundred yards.

Congrats to Brent, Kerrick, A and N for a job well done! We will be sharing the prize money equally amongst you!

Keep applauding, because handsome certificates, suitable for framing, are going out to Caroline B, Echelon Z, our old friend Evan W, JeZaTys, Luke R, Mid-prarie math club, The Divine Mrs. Malven's trig class, Nate R, our beloved Team Spartans, The Juniors, The Skittles, Valley Tigers, Verb's Venerable Vizslas, Jebkm2, $$4dewskis, Ben P, Ikram Hafidi, Joshua W, Sidney Calc Class, Curie A, Eric A, Montezuma Calc Class, and Patrice M-P. Well done, all!

Did I tell you you could stop applauding? Did I? Then do not stop! But be not displeased, for why would you wish to stop applauding when I am on the verge of mentioning The UNI Department of Public Relations and Michele Smith at the Northern Iowan, long-time publicisers of this tomfoolery! And Mary Friedrich, Nan Sash, and the rest of the gang at the math office who spent a hunk of the start of the semester doing Wright Challenge related activities instead of sending off the latest crates of papers by David and Bonnie. And let us not forget Dr. Jerry Ridenhour whose constant supportiveness of this contest keeps it a going. Yay! Yay! Yay!

The problems this semester were all originals by Doctor E, except for the first five which were obtained by the department's own Fontanne and Lunt, Adrienne Stanley and Doug Shaw. (She actually did most of them this time, but he is the one writing these notes, so Ha.)

Finally - thanks to YOU for participating this semester! We all hope you enjoyed it, and request that if you have any suggestions or feedback, you send them along so we can improve for next semester. What was that I said? Let me read that again. Yes, yes. I used the phrase "next semester."

Because we are coming back.
Bolder.
Trickier.
Puzzlier.
To bring you...
