Clue #6 eliminates the letter N, and forces an I, T, or H. Because N is eliminated, clue #1 tells us there is an E and a W or an R. Since we have an E, clue #3 elminates T and forces an R or an O. Clue #2 now forces a C or H. So we now have: E, {W,R}, {R,O}, {I, T, H}, {C,H}.

Assume there was an R. Then there is no O. Clue #4 would then force there to be S, T, H. But if there was a T, clue #3 would be contradicted. Therefore there is no R.

So we have E, W, O, {I, T, H}, {C, H}. Clue #4 now forces a S, T or H. Assume now there was an I. Clue #6 eliminates T and H leaving us with E, W, O, I, C, S which is six letters. No I for us.

We are now at E, W, O, {T,H}, {C,H}, {S, T, H}. I.E. We know the answer is EWOTC or EWOH*. Clue #5 is going to add an L, or a F,A. We don't have enough slots left for an F and an A, so clue #5 gives us the L. So the letters are EWOHL.

And that's the WHOLE answer!

What about four-A foods? I was thinking of JAMBALAYA or MACADAMIA. I did give credit for people who used two-word foods, but I thought that was a bit of a loophole. If you disagree, maybe we can sit down sometime, drink some SARSAPARILLA and talk about it.
