Well, February is nearly over and its time for the next wonderful installment of the Wright Challenge. Four out of Five mathematicians surveyed recommend The Wright Challenge for their patients who use contests. The mysterious Doctor E., will be pleased as punch to give out prizes of $60, $40, and $20 to the UNI student or Iowa high-school student with top scores. He also enjoys sending out handsome certificates, suitable for framing, to all with sufficiently high scores.
Turning in the correct solution to this weeks puzzle by March 8th will earn 2 puzzle points. Turning in the correct solution, along with the title of a book that discusses anteaters, classical composers, and open mathematical conjectures will earn 3 puzzle points. (Books like "the dictionary" or "the encyclopedia" don't count.)
Find a thirty-digit number containing no zeros and at least one 5 that is divisible by 11.
The deadline for sending in solutions has expired. But feel free to take some time to work on this one, and click here to see the answer. Alternatively, click here to see the current challenge.
